Thank you to all of the people who voted - the response was overwhelming with over 5000 people from over 50 countries coming to vote.

Surviving Progress

“Every time history repeats itself the price goes up.”

Surviving Progress presents the story of human advancement as awe-inspiring and double-edged. It reveals the grave risk of running the 21st century’s software — our know-how — on the ancient hardware of our primate brain which hasn’t been upgraded in 50,000 years. With rich imagery and immersive soundtrack, filmmakers Mathieu Roy and Harold Crooks launch us on journey to contemplate our evolution from cave-dwellers to space explorers.

Taste the Waste

A documentary about the worldwide destruction of food  Why do we throw away so much? And how can we stop this kind of waste?

Amazing but true: On the way from the farm to the dining-room table, more than half the food lands on the dump. Most of it before it ever reaches consumers. For instance every other head of lettuce or potato.

Samsara

Samsara is a word that describes the ever turning wheel of life. It is a concept both intimate and vast - the perfect subject for filmmakers Ron Fricke and Mark Magidson, whose previous collaborations include Chronos and Baraka, and who, in the last 20 years, have travelled to over 58 countries together in the pursuit of unique imagery.

Samsara takes the form of a nonverbal, guided meditation that will transform viewers in countries around the world as they are swept along a journey of the soul. Through powerful images pristinely photographed in 70mm and a dynamic music score, the film illuminates the links between humanity and the rest of the nature, showing how our life cycle mirrors the rhythm of the planet.

Noetic Film Experience

From shamanic healing and frontier science to meditation, mythology, 2012, and personal transformation, the Institute of Noetic Science’s inaugural Noetic Film Experience weekend will have something for everyone. Celebrate great filmmaking, view films with transformative themes, and take part in discussions, receptions, and Q&A with filmmakers and scientists.

Cold Winter Hot Movies

As we settle into the rhythm of the new year of 2012 this is shaping up to be a great year for transformational media.  The movie "Sing Your Song" which premiered at Sundance last year opens in NYC and LA area.  This film moved me more than any other at Sundance and is a great story of the life of Harry Belfonte and how his music moved people, and how he blended that with his activism to be an important part of the civil rights movement, and other movements of social justice.
